ICSC 2020 Red River States Retail Recap
The event was bursting with energy and patriotism featuring Robert O’ Neill, a former Navy Seal, as the keynote speaker who provided special insight on being prepared, eliminating stress, and maintaining a never quit attitude. Mr. O’ Neill, a part of Operation Neptune Spear, is a true hero and a great American! Robert detailed some of the sacrifices our military and servicemen give up daily to keep Americans living the life of freedom. The team caught up with him the evening he spoke and was reminded of how grateful we are to all the men and women who serve our country.
The smaller/condensed event this year allowed our leasing agents a chance to cut through the fluff and get down to the retailers and their rep’s who are looking to do deals in our market. Restaurant and service businesses that are searching for space in co-tenanted buildings were still very eager to find and fill voids in the markets we represent, while brands that traditionally follow Grocer anchored centers were looking for new product to explore. As always it was exciting to see the new brands that are just beginning or are now expanding into our Houston market and looking for the perfect place to kick off in the area. Productive discussions were had with retailers/restaurants that were entering Houston or scouting new Houston submarkets and looking to do multiple locations this year. We feel this activity speaks the overall good health of the retail market.
